I’ve been doing a quick home workout every day for two years now. It’s not an alternative to a gym workout, but it’s better than nothing. And it only takes a few minutes so you can’t have an excuse that you don’t have time to do it. Once you get used to it, keeping up becomes much easier since you don’t want to break the daily habit.

Morning

I do 3 sets of 30 pushups. I like to alternate between doing plain pushups and using pushup handles. I first purchased the Perfect Basic Pushup but I don’t recommend it. After a few months it became wobbly and started squicking. I then purchased the Perfect Pushup Elite and it’s much better. It’s stable and you can actually make the circle movement smoothly. Rotating your hand while doing the pushup makes it harder and seems to engage more muscles.

Evening

In the evening I do an ab workout using an ab wheel. I do 3 sets of 15 repetitions. It’s important to keep the right posture while using the ab wheel since it can harm your back otherwise. I like the ab wheel because it also engages other muscles besides the abs. At first I used the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro that comes with a spring inside that helps you roll back. After a few months something broke inside and it started making clicking sounds while rolling. I then replaced it with a much simpler version Inred Dual Ab Wheel . It makes the exercise more efficient since it’s less stable and doesn’t help you to roll back. However it’s of a low quality so I’m not sure I recommend it. I will probably try a different one soon.

Then I do 3 sets of pullups. I use a doorway pull-up bar . It fits in the doorframe and seems to do the job. I do 3 sets of 10 pull ups using the wide grip.

The key is to never break the chain. If you are tired or very busy that day, do only 3 pushups instead of the entire thing. That’s very easy so you can’t say no.
